Delcam CRISPIN’s full CADCAM range at Leicester College

The Delcam CRISPIN CADCAM suite in Leicester College’s city centre St Margaret’s Campus was officially opened last month.  At the launch event, staff from Leicester College were joined by representatives from the Delcam CRISPIN head office and many footwear industry professionals to witness the ribbon cutting.

The newly refurbished suite contains the latest versions of Delcam CRISPIN’s range of CADCAM software for the footwear industry, making Leicester College the only further education establishment in the UK to offer this software to its footwear learners.  The new facilities continue a long tradition of training in the city; Leicester introduced its first school of footwear in 1898.

At the opening, Graham Vollans, Footwear Business Development Manager at Delcam Crispin said: "We’re honoured to take part in the opening of the Delcam CRISPIN suite at Leicester College.  We are dedicated to helping Leicester College grow and look forward to working together for many years.”

Verity Hancock, Principal at Leicester College, added: "Our partnership with Delcam CRISPIN will help the College create a world-recognised centre of excellence for footwear in Leicester.  The opportunity to work with industry-standard software is an exceptional resource for our learners and I would like to replicate this across other disciplines to benefit the College and the city.”

Learners at Leicester College have already been using the software as part of the Footwear Foundation Degree course.  They have thoroughly enjoyed using the software to create 3D designs after being given an industry-set brief.

Two graduates of the College’s footwear courses are now employed by Delcam.  Lauren Whitaker graduated from the Foundation Degree course in Footwear while Ian Burgess completed his Higher National Diploma in Footwear.  Both are College alumni members.

Delcam CRISPIN is the world’s largest supplier of CADCAM software to the footwear industry.  It is the only supplier able to provide a complete solution for the 3D design and manufacture of lasts, uppers and soles.
